The Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA)

The Leading Parent Partnership Award provides us with a tool to review and build upon our relationships with parents/ carers.  Our last review highlighted the following:

  • Although Bedonwell is a large nursery and infant school it provides a tangibly warm and nurturing environment.
  • Displays in the corridors and classrooms are of a very high standard, celebrating the curriculum and the children.
  • The school’s “Golden Rules” are clearly displayed throughout the school.
  • The office staff are highly professional and welcoming.
  • The fact that Bedonwell employs a Parent Support Adviser’ (PSA) reflects the importance the school attaches to parent partnership.
  • Induction is thorough and sensitive, praised by parents and the parent governor.
  • Communication between home and school is now excellent, again praised by parents at final verification. Texting and Tweeting are welcomed by parents.
  • Curriculum workshops are well thought through and build parental confidence and ability to support their children. The workshops on phonics and numeracy were praised in conversation with parents, “The school has really developed parental involvement in learning, we have focused help on the curriculum”.
  • The school has an excellent protocol in place for authorised or unavoidable absences, with work being given immediately to minimise the break in learning.
  • A full range of classes for parents is in place, including the curriculum workshops, ESOL Family Learning, Food, Health and Hygiene, and through the PSA, parenting skills, particularly behaviour management.
  • The school encourages parents to develop their own learning through sign posting and providing in school training for parents become TAs.
  • Parent volunteers are constantly encouraged and supported and are an intrinsic part of the school’s gold standard partnership ethos.

We are very proud to have achieved this award and we look forward to continuing to work together to build on our partnership with parents in the future.
