Religious Education

Religious Education at Bedonwell Infant and Nursery School follows the RE Agreed Syllabus for Bexley 2014. Year Groups in Key Stage 1 study different aspects of Christianity alongside one other major world faith. The children in the EYFS (Nursery and Reception classes) access RE through the Understanding the World aspect of the EYFS curriculum and explore celebrations, traditions and special occasions.

Through our Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural curriculum, emphasis is also given to moral Education, good manners and Equal Opportunities.

The Bexley agreed syllabus allows children to develop skills both at attainment target 1- learning about a religion (i.e. the facts) and attainment target 2 - learning from a religion (i.e. relating what the children are learning about to their own life experiences).

At school, we teach RE through interactive methods, using a wide range of resources and encourage members of the local community to visit and share experiences with the children. Through our Harvest Festival and carol service we enjoy sharing experiences and supporting the local community.

"In the simplest terms, studying religion and belief makes a vital part of a complete   education because of its ability to influence culture, behaviour and national life and help children to  workout how to live a good life."
